Another Actor turns Politician

Famous Tamil Star Actor Vijay to jump into serious politics.

Cinema Field and Politics have a special bond, and society also acknowledges both these fields as special and important while sometimes conveniently blaming the people involved in these fields for many problems in life.

Many film industry people jumped into politics. History shows that many actors from various Film Industries like Hollywood Bollywood, Kollywood, Tollywood and Sandalwood turned politicians. 

There are some actors who were extremely successful in politics  like M.G.R & Jayalalithaa from Tamil Film Industry and N.T.R in Telugu Film Industry who became Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh (United AP) respectively.

There are other actors who are/ were partially successful from Telugu Film Industry like Chiranjeevi, who became an MLA and an MP, , Kota Srinivasa Rao, who became an MLA, Babu Mohan, who became an MLA and a State Minister, Krishnam Raju, who became an MP, Roja, who became an MLA and a State Minister.

From Tamil Film Industry, there was Vijaykanth, who became an MLA and the Leader of Opposition, From Kannada Film Industry there were Ambarish, who became an MLA, State Minister and an MP, Sumalatha, who became an MP, B.C. Patil, who became an MLA, Ramya, who became an MP, while from Malayalam Film Industry there were actors like Innocent Vareed, who became an MP, Suresh Gopi, who became an MP and like them few others also tried their hand at politics to some success.

In the Hindi Film Industry, we have many actors who were successful/ partially successful like Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Hema Malini, Shatrughan Sinha, Jaya Prada, Kirron Kherr, Smriti Irani, Govinda, Sunny Deol, Amitabh Bachchan, who became MPs, and few others who had little to no success at politics.

There are few actors who are noteworthy to mention as they seriously took to politics but could not make any impact, unlike their Cinematic Success. Pawan Kalyan, Kamal Haasan, Upendra,  Urmila Matondkar, Mahesh Manjrekar, and others come under the category of no political success till now despite giving it all their in the elections.

Well, how can I forget, The Super Star Rajnikanth? He comes under the category of not as an actor & failed politician, he would be remembered as someone who could not plan his political entry or political party's roadmap, after announcing a party but chose to dissolve it and quit politics. That's a Super Star step just like his speciality as an actor and star different from others.

We see honesty and sincerity in some of these star actors, who really want to serve people as politicians. But it is no more MGR-NTR times that they would recreate their Film success in Politics as well. Actors have to face a tough battle against seasoned politicians, who the general public believes as better leaders for them than these actors. 

I really wish that people give at least one chance to actors like Pawan Kalyan, Kamal Haasan and now to Vijay, so that we see what they can do as politicians. It's not just a simple curiosity to see what they can do, but a genuine hope that they can bring a change in society unlike seasoned politicians, who know how to do politics than service. 

MGR and NTR came to politics at the fag end of their acting career, whereas actors like Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, and now Vijay came to politics in their prime and peak careers as actors. It is a big step taken by them to leave that stardom, that peak career and flung into politics. It is not possible unless there is a desire to serve people, because we all know, politics is not simple.

Actors can act and get lots of money as remuneration, but politics involves going out in hot sun, in rains, in floods to people, helping them, doing election campaigning etc. Politics also can become tough when other party members want to take the ugly route of personal attacks on the actors' personal lives, choice of films, dragging family and foul-mouthing them etc. Despite knowing all these follies and hardships that politics can offer, if an actor decides to enter into politics, that too when they can earn in crores and enjoy superior fandom, then there is something that these actors want to change in society. There is something they want to do to the public as politicians.

You might argue that I am biased towards actors because I am a big movie buff. But I see these actors as human beings who want to change something in society for good. I wish we give them a chance and see what they are capable of. 

In my childhood, when Chiranjeevi launched his party and heard that he was contesting for Chief Minister, I thought like -why was he doing that? Because for me, Mega Star was much bigger than a chief minister. But now I understand the difference. I really wanted Chiranjeevi to become a CM and serve but he had to quit politics and come back to movies due to many reasons. Now, I want two of the biggest stars of South Film Industries, Pawan Kalyan and Vijay to succeed in politics like they did succeed in Films and enjoy a huge fan following. Pawan Kalyan had contested once and lost and this time around he and his party are expected to win big. For Vijay Anna, as I would like to fondly call him, I wish that he plans everything well from the ground level and executes everything well to win big in the 2026 elections he's going to contest so that he can bring good changes to the people of the state.

After all, we give a chance to every seasoned politicians and all they do is loot us, tax us and lure us with some freebies from our money only. And what worse can our actors be than that? I don't think that these actors are capable like seasoned politicians to manipulate us and loot us and all. 

Like everyone deserves a chance, I wish people consider these actors good enough and they get to be the politician they want to be and be successful in serving society like they are successful in entertaining us/ giving some message to us through their films.
